Nelson, get a pork butt a shillings fajita packet & 2 cloves garlic and 1/2 cup of water put in crockpot for 12 hours..remove and crisp in oven...best damn easy ass carnitas you ever tasted Doug
But thanks for the tip. I never did think of "crisping" the pork butt in the oven after the crock pot.
Usually, we make the pork shoulder/butt in one of two ways.
#1 - use beer instead of water and cook the pork in the crock pot for 8 to 10 hours on low. Drain out fluids then add southern style BBQ sauce.
#2 - use Hawaiian Huli Huli sauce instead of water (or beer) and cook it up in the crock pot.
Either way, I have to try and make homemade carnitas now that you've mentioned it.
I can't believe you commented about pork butt! I was at Trader Joe's last night asking the grocery clerk if they had pork shoulder or pork butt. I guess they don't carry it... I only know how to cook with the cheap parts of the pig!
I was eventually going to come around to doing some cooking posts but I figured I'd warm everybody up to it with hole-in-the-wall restaurant posts fist.
Yo I married my Latina babe and her grandma turned me onto authentic style but we've made it easy keep posting recipes and i'll try the beer in da crock pot beer soaked ribs recipe comin D
yea man, I am all over the recipes (up with the secrets yo) - CoC is now on my "wholesome browsing" list...such a delightful diet of bikes, nostalgia, arcane imagery...and now...food...far fucking out!!
