okay, here's a pic of my grandfather (Harold Shearer) and his cousin (Howard "Mike" Hunt)...Harold's in the sidecar...he tell's me this is pre-WW II, though it looks like they are in postwar garb...Harold was a Marine and served in Samoa in the motor pool as a mechanic...Howard was a pilot, but i don't recall where he was stationed...Howard was a bush pilot after the war in Alaska flying C-46s into rough terrain...At a gross weight of 48,000 lbs, these weren't like the Piper Cub J-3s most people think of when they think of bush piloting...And yes, he did name his son "Mike"...no shit...
