MotoGP Le Moan...Lorenzo's Land

As I've said before...God hates MotoGP. This race was a complete clusterfuck, but in a good way. HRC's Pedrobot starts from pole, with 'King Midas' Lorenzo, and Casey Stoner rounding out the front row. The housewives' favorite, Valentino Rossi started from the second row. Kentucky's own Nicky Hayden and his carbon-framed Ducati started from the top of the 5th row. Not cool.

Anyway...the race is ruled a 'wet race' (France, frogs...duh), which means the race will run flag-to-flag, and the riders have the option of pitting to switch bikes...as long as at least one of the tires on the second bike is different from the first bike.

So the British guy on TV yells at me '...and they're off!'. Lorenzo plows to the front and immediately gaps the field. As the wet track tries to dry, all the riders were trying to decide if they should stay out and try to build on their positions, or play it safe, and pit for dry (slick) tires.

Rossi was one of the first to pit for dry tires. Dry tires fitted, Rossi set out to conquer the world, only to inspect the French gravel (also up to spec) half a lap later. Rossi managed to get back on track and make it back to the pits to swap bikes (back onto wet tires)...only to be 'punk'd' for breaking the 50mph pitlane speed limit which resulted in another visit to pitlane by way of a ride through penalty.

Long story, short...no points and enough about him. Meanwhile, everyone else pitted for dry tires and set sail. Lorenzo was one of the last to tire-switch, but it paid off. he had such a gap before pitting, that it didn't matter...he pranced of to win the MotoGP de Full Retreat.

Big-ups to Marco Melandri for bringing home the HyVee-sponsored Kawasaki Hayabusa in 2nd place. Pedrosa rounded out the podium, but I'm pretty sure no one cares.

So yeah...France has now been annexed to Lorenzoland. For a 5ft 4in Spaniard to overtake that country seems about right.
