more ChopperDave!

I'm gonna follow Jeff's lead from below and give props to my #1 haole friend that is always down to eat loco moco wit me and fix my bike when I'm too lazy to do it myself.

So... I was looking for a copy of the book European Choppers back in '96 or '97 I think, and I came across Dave who happened to have a brand new out-of-print copy that he hooked me up for cover price.

We quickly became friends. There weren't very many "chopper" people back then, especially below the age of like 50 or 60! So it was pretty fucking rad to meet someone in my age group listened to the same music, watched the same movies, liked the same bikes and cars, and played Dungeons and Dragons as a kid. I think this photo was taken just before the 2000 or 2001 No Love Party in the back alley of his pad.

Burns outs in the parking lot.
I've written&shot over 100 articles for various mags over the years and some made it to the cover, some didn't. Here's a cover that never was:
Dave had bought back his old Chevy and came to pick me up in Costa Mesa to go hang out. That's Tristan Hara of Super Sixties fame on the left. We ran into Tristan cruising down Harbor Blvd that day.
Oh, I liked how this one came out. Shot Dave and his pan with model Nicole. I shot this one in San Pedro. It was a good day.
Here's Dave with my pirate dog. He wasn't allowed to pet it but they were pretty chummy in the van.
I think Harpoon made this a few years ago:
No, Dave isn't dead or sick or anything. It's just a good day to post photos of him because he's a good man.

Hey Nelson, I frequently had a peek at Chopper Dave's site long before I discovered the Church of Choppers Blog.
