While in Italy, I had the pleasure to meet Nobbi Wolf Sekine and his wife Minako. They rode down from Germany. While in conversation he mentioned having a grandfather that was a pilot in WW2.....Here are some photos he sent CoC.....Thanks Nobbi!
Those are some cool photos. It always amazes me how few pics of German stuff are shown from WW1 and WW2. I think it is a great disservice to not show stuff from all sides.
I'd be willing to bet that the rudder belongs to Werner Moelders. He scored his 54th kill Oct. 29 1940. He was Kommodore of JG 51 at that time. He is not the pilot in the portrait. One of only ten pilots to win the Knight's Cross with oak leaves,swords and diamonds.Absolutely one of Germany's greatest pilots. killed riding in an He 111 in 1941 flying from Russia to Germany to go to Ernst Udet's funeral.
