Track On A Hill

Submitted by Anthony Robinson:

On the top of a hill in the Adirondack Mountains there is a small airport with a grass strip. Next to the grass strip is a long-retired, paved race track. It is wide enough for one car to run on, and the pavement is badly damaged from the harsh freeze and thaw of the Northeast winters. I assume the course was used for time trials. Someday I'll find out.

It's a beautiful place in an idealic location. The sunsets are generally no-less-than spectacular. I've watched ten in the ten years I've visited the area. There is no gate.

My daughter and I made four lazy laps around the track this evening. We then picked raspberries mid-course and watched a homebuilt airplane take off before driving home.
It was perfect.

Thanks for sharing that Brother. It made my day. Life is so short, and the things that command are attention to live are so inconsequential in comparison. Glad you had that perfect moment with your daughter- times like that are sweeter than raspberries.
