Felix's in Orange, CA

Aaah, it never gets old. Since living in CA, I've eaten here about a dozen times. And so have many others. The Las Vegas Real Estate Tycoon, all around International Business Woman and Full Time Hustler Hawaii native Christine was in town. One of my best friends since junior high school so there's always a lot of catching up and gossiping to do.
A great place for lunch and chit chat at Felix's. Christine had the empenadas here before, so she was on a rampage to get to Felix's pronto this time. We got a table outside. I don't think I've ever ate inside before.
It all starts with the standard bread and butter. Even the bread is good. "Are we eating too much bread, Nelson?" Yup, probably! But it's good and we were hungry!
We started with the Calamaritos Fritos Gran Via. Squid - floured and deep fried. It was good, but it got old. We just had a few and had to retire them:
And oooh here it is. Yes, we pretty much got deep fried everything. We had to celebrate Oahu! Any reason to over eat!
Here is the Croquetas de Pollo y Jamón. Ham and Chicken croquettes done perfect. You need to try this one:
Shrimp Louisianese. Dipped in a spicy beer batter, coated with coconut, flakes and deep fried. Served with an orange, mustard and horseradish sauce. It can be ordered each!:
Empanadita Criolla. Ground pork empanada, Cuban style. I highly recommend this one. Or three:
Tamal Cubano. Cream of corn and pork cooked in a Cuban sofrito then baked. Different from the standard Mexican tamale, yes. Good? Oh yes, oh yes:
Another great lunch comes to an end. Back to work.
Don't miss out on this place, it's right at "the circle" in Old Town Orange, CA.
