Vice had come in and I saw an ad that made my world come to a screeching halt. Any time I see anything put out by the
4AD record label in the 80's and early 90's, I tend to put on my brain-brakes and do long squirrley skids.
Oh, I passed on the Bad Brains shoes. The Slayer shoes. The KISS shoes. They didn't even phase me, whateeever. Love the bands, don't need the shoes. In fact I been wearing the same dirty ass oily pair Christian Hosoi high tops Daniel-san Takahashi gave me 2 years ago.
But ooooh,
VANS had to go out and make shoes of THE PIXIES. Now that changes everything! Fuck! Now I gotta go find them.

I worked in a record store for 12+ years. I don't think I ever touched a copy of "Surfer Rosa" without taking a few seconds to study the cover...
In my late teens all I wanted to do was work at a record store. I was stuck at my pop's gas station/repair shop instead for more than half my life!
I too bought every record 4AD put out in the 80's .. Pixies on tour again this fall.
