Custom Chrome's Short Lived FXR Kit

It must've been roughly 5 years ago, I don't remember, Custom Chrome sprang this FXR kit on everyone and I was totally floored. Who's making them? Who designed it? John Reed maybe? How's it ride & handle? Before I got any answers, the FXR kit was discontinued and never to be seen again. Flash in the pan...
Fast forward to the now, as in today, and I get this email from Tom Edison over at Works Performance. "Check out this bike my friend Joe Zanelli built. It's using that CCI FXR frame, tail section and seat that came with it."
"Marchesini wheels, Paioli front end, Brembo brakes, V-Rod headlight and Works Performance's Racer Piggy Back shocks. It's pretty neat."
"It should be fast too, because it's running S&S' T-Series (Twin Cam style) 124" engine and a matching FLT style transmission. He's also running the IST ignition, so the rev limiter won't let him really get on it yet until it's broken in. He says it feels pretty good so far. "

Keith (Bandit) Ball built one of these CCI/Reed kits a few years back with a modern big inch panhead. Called it the Salt Shaker and took it to his first trip to Bonneville. If you search his Bikernet.com site you can find the story. Around the same time, one of the editors of Cycle world built one too.

They didn't sell too well. I guess it was ahead of it's time.
