Fitzroy, Melbournes first suburb is 1 mile north-east from Melbourne's center. Its borders are Alexandra Parade (north), Victoria Parade (south), Smith Street (east) and Nicholson Street. Fitzroy is Melbourne's smallest suburb in terms of area, being approximately 100 Ha. At the 2006 Census, it had a population of 8,814.
It has a long associations with the working class and is currently inhabited by a wide variety of ethnicities and socio-economic groups and is known for a culture of bohemianism, lattes and wankerdom. Its commercial heart is Brunswick Street, which is one of Melbourne's major retail, eating, and entertainment strips.
Importantly - Fitzroy has a lot of Pubs .... i like drinking at The 'Marque of Lorne' when i want to see fancy, 'Kent St' when i want to see hipster and 'The Rose' when i want to watch people watching sport.
