Ameriklan

Yet another argument for the contention that we’re living in a golden era for American muscle cars arrives with the 2013 Ford Mustang, which will sport a brace of tech and styling updates across its line — including the most powerful V8 engine sold by any automaker in the world. How much trouble could you get in with a 200-mph ‘Stang?

The biggest change comes at the top, where the Ford Shelby GT500 gets 100 extra ponies under the hood, giving the supercharged 5.8-liter V8 650 hp and 600 lb.-ft of torque — more than any Camaro, Corvette or even the Ferrari 458 Italia. Every part of the Shelby was tweaked in some fashion to handle the power riot, along with a launch control system for better controlled top-speed starts.

Holy shit.

The only problem is, like with any other sports car producer nowadays, that car's gonna weigh a lot. Too much probably.
Sports cars gotta be allrounders today, there's hardly a manufacturer who builds a sports car to perform.
The result is, you can drive away from those cars on a curvy road with a 20 years old BMW E30.

my '87 notchback has 441hp and 555lb/ft of torque through the stock 302 with a turbo, weighs 3100, and costs 1/4 or less of that new one...new motor w/turbo will be 900/700-ish...
too bad i look like a perv in it...

Hey, I didn't say that this car's shitty.
650 HP are fuckin awesome, what I adressed is more a general problem.

3,920 lb are a lot to carry.

My father is a huge Mustang fan. On top of his FR500S and 2012 BOSS 302S race cars that he flogs the hell out of, he also has a 2010 GT500 as and a tweaked 2007 GT500 with 700hp at the wheels that pulls 23mpg. Although they weigh in around 4000lb, the 700 HP makes that car one hell of a ride and fun to push around. Straight axle, supercharged, fantastic handling sumbitches. Even in stock form the Shelbys are retarded fun. Ignore the cons, drive the car and you completely forget about them
