Sandro is an amazing photgrapher based out of Chicago. He is an old family friend, super generous and down to earth. My old mans printing company did this book in 1998, Starting in 1990 he spent 5 years travelling to bike rallies taking these photos. Im not sure if the book can be tracked down but if you find a copy pick it up. His work is totally amazing and inspiring. You can see more of it including more of the "biker" shots HERE

Damn,this is good.
I saw this book it is a great and inspiring book. There is this cat in there named to smooth, what a great photo one of the best.
Yes, it's on Amazon. I've seen it before throughout the years at several bookstores as well.
I have a book here called Road Pirates, by a photog named Marc Hauser.
It's from 1991, and it was published by Chicago Review Press, in Chicago, IL. The photos are almost exactly the same - same subject matter, same poses, same sepia/B&W prints.
After seeing these portraits here, I had to dig the Road Pirates book out from hiding to see if the photographers were the same, that's how close the works are. And, both books printed in Chicago, weird.
i got the alternate titled book "american trailer park"
excellent images, I've seen some of them before I think - they are pretty iconic
Very tribal. And Amazing that they're not better known in the art world. A trip to compare these to Avedon's "American West" book. Or Irving Penn's '60s H.A. for
Life Magazine.
