Welcome to Australia
As usual a ton of inaccurate information makes front page news again, lots of media attention – it is the build up to the announcement that the government is going to try and outlaw freedom of association in Victoria, as they are attempting to do in other states throughout Australia.
As my good friend Ronnie wrote last week... here ... A lot of the public are eating it up...
It is always surprises me how the right wing media bash this stuff out... when Melbourne, Australia was last week voted (again) ... The worlds most livable city and one of the safest.... A safe city, with a police force that has more than enough powers of coersion and surveillance to bring anyone who deserves to be before the courts, before the courts.
You see, having been part of the Victorian scene since the early 90's and a longterm member of the charter chapter of a respected International club, God's Squad, (this year celebrating our 40th). I am a biker who goes riding with my mates from many clubs every week, visiting their houses, working on bikes in their sheds, having a few drinks at their clubhouses... And after all this time, one thing that i know for sure is this - everything i have seen in the lives of all my respected friends - does not match with anything I read in the papers.

Hear, hear, bloody brilliant mate. This shit has to stop, it's not just the biker community but every citizen whose intrinsic freedoms risk being trampled under foot care of shallow, quick fix, kneejerk 'law reforms'. Even in a small city like the Gold Coast where current inter club rivalries are high it is insanely over sensationalised by both the press and the cops, selling 'copy' and unfounded fear has never been so fucking easy, disinformation is the order of the day. As you very correctly stated, there are more than enough laws in place to deal with any criminal element from any social background more than adequately if the police do their jobs properly [or improperly as usual], tarring any group with one fat, dumb brush is taking the line of least resistance and tragically, the 'general public' all want their freedom cake and eat it too, thus allowing this kind of bollocks to perpetuate itself. Sorry for the rant but it's been brewing for some time. Stand up Australia, this will effect everybody !!!! Thanks Micro, respect.
Not fucking good at all
Well said there Micro
Very well written, Micro. Have you sent a copy of this to the pos tabloid that is the Herald Sun? I doubt it would make a lick of difference to the way they report on such opinions, but an intelligent response from the biking community is warranted in this case, and this is as good as a response as I've read - stating facts and references, far more than the HS ever do.
Cheers,
Cam
