This is chopper style, England in the 1970's. Carol Howie emailed this stuff to me; thats her sitting on the Triumph aged 17. Her first ever bike ride was on the back of that killer machine.

The chop was built by Ian in the mid 70s, in the box bedroom of a Victorian terrace in Harrow where he grew up. There wasn’t even a garden shed let alone a garage. Somehow it was carried down the stairs by him and his mates when the build was finished. Funnily enough I did the same thing with a Norton cafe racer I built in the front room of my 2nd floor flat in London. I remember trying to get it down the stairs vertically on the rear wheel, nightmare.
Ian was about 16 at the time. It didn't take long before Carol decided that it would be much more fun and way more comfortable to be up front. So she saved up 140 quid and bought her first bike, a '55 BSA bantam D1. But that had to go as Carol needed the money to buy her first big bike, a bright red ex-police Triumph, a 1968 TR6P.

However, of all the bikes she has owned over the years the Bantam is the one she regrets selling the most for some weird reason. She now lives in Vancouver, Canada and rides a bright purple metallic Harley as a daily rider and is also building a sweet Triumph chop too.

Damn, I love getting emails like this. It makes sitting in front of a computer for hours on end putting together a wanky magazine all worth it.

Cheers!
