I'm proud to say that I got to work for Jim Wismer, former owner of Harley-Davidson of Westminster, CA. To this day he is a true gearhead and former 1/4 mile racer, baja and anything he could do going fast on a motorcycle. I consider him the last true gearhead "mom & pop" H-D shop owner in Southern CA. Not just out to make a buck, this guy really loves H-D motorcycles. Dig the photo, a drag bike he was running and built about 40 years ago. Legend has it that he had dipped into the high-10's with this bike "Stormy Weather". Jim had once described to me "yup, yup, back when men were MEN! What was it like to ride that bike you say? Well you ever shot an arrow with no feathers? There was no telling which way it was going to go!" And by the way - HAPPY THANKSGIVING to the congregation here at the Church of Choppers!

Last Febuary I followed this nice Charger R/T thru Philly, and down Kelly Drive. It sounded nice and was a stick shifted like God commanded. It handled horribly however and he wasn't able to shake my 5.4 F-150 SuperCrew thru the curves on Kelly Drive, which really pissed him off; though he shouldn't have taken it personal, in fact it was MuscleCars of his era that probably inspired modern Engineers that would use the best of their abilities to create a SoccerMom vehicle that could out handle Detroits finest, circa 1968. The fact that my wife's truck can haul hay, drag in firewood, ride comfortably, be classy enough to attend a funeral or park in valet, and still keep up with a Charger in the twisties, is the greatest compliment that could be paid to MuscleCars. But I understand if they don't see it my way when I pull along side them on the interstate with three children sleeping in their car seats and my wife knitting away!..........Flynch
Here's something a little different. Being from the Hawaiian islands, I've come to appreciate a style of bike known as the "Local Boy" thats been a tradition there for over 40 years. Took this photo of Todd's '48 FL around 4 years ago in Hawaii. I had finally got to go home for a short vacation and I figured I'd do a feature while I was there. Raena was real cool to have shown up on such short notice. Motor was built by Painter Joe around 13 or 14 years ago. I met Todd in '97, around the same time he had finished this bike. It had apes on it back then but it mostly looked the same as it does now.
