A year went by already. People say "I can't believe a whole year's gone" all the time. I can't believe it either. This post ain't about that though. I got to go to my first rock and roll party in L.A. I have to admit, I was kinda worried about the L.A attitude that I thought was going to be running rampant at any L.A party... but I had to check it out.
The deal was that our very own COC correspondent Scott Parker invited us to the new years party he had going on at the private studio he works at. I was flattered! This country boy from Hawaii was curious to see how rock stars get down... and it was a fucking blast. There was a theme for the party; everyone had to dress up like the movie Urban Cowboy. Yes, it was the first time I ever wore a cowboy hat (which I borrowed for the night).
After getting valet'd and screened by the most courteous security, there was miles of smiles!
Couples karaoke was hot. Someone sang "Safety Dance" too. Don't ask me about the country stuff, I don't know!
I was going to come across some celebrities, which didn't really dawn on me until I got there. I didn't want to get in anybody's faces though... but people were really, really cool about taking their photo. Guess I don't look like paparazzi!
Scott Parker was campaigning for Governor of Texas:
Of course there was a bar or two:
Denver Dan was running game at the party. In fact, him and Scott ran the whole deal. Not an easy task, that's for sure. Dan was on top of it as usual:
Dan decorated the place. Planned stuff. And did other things. I don't know what he did exactly, I just know he was swamped:
Mechanical bull. I was waiting for the Queens Of The Stone Age/Kyuss guy to get on but he didn't. I didn't either. I might break my hip or whatever. This girl was not scared:
People were really, really nice. Cake was good.
I told you people were nice:
After all the antics and fame of Motley Crue, you would think Nikki Sixx would be a dick. Nope, he was cool too. I was wrong about the citizens of Los Angeles, sorry! He was with Kat Von D to the left:I never talked to any of these famous people though. I'm chicken. I have nothing interesting to say anyway. I did run into a fan of Off Topic Sundays at the party. "You and Cant Stay Jose eat tacos everywhere, man!" I was stumped.
It was a real good time.
I think this is my favorite photo of the night:
She was on the mechanical bull a whole bunch of times:
Foo Fighters and Nirvana sold a lot of records and won a lot of stuff.
It was a trip to see all this stuff hanging on the wall.
The best port-a-potty I ever been in. Air conditioned among other things. I was told it was the Executive Model.
There was action around every corner.
With the music and lights just right, people became dancing machines. Hey, DJ won't you play that song?
Juliette Lewis did karaoke I Will Survive.
Like I said. Dancing Machines:
I even saw Elvis:
Scott Parker and his boss. They needed to drink lots of water at this point:
Closing time! Not really. It was 3:30am and time for us to split.
Thanks Scott! Happy New Year to everyone.

Thanks! And Happy New Year to everyone.
I guess there's a lot more celebrities in the photos than I knew (of course)! Thanks for the emails from COC viewers pointing them out.
I'm not a celebrity stalker guy or anything but its interesting to know who people are and what they do.
lucky......
Hot Damn I shoulda called in sick last nite.
To be honest, it looks just like the bar in Floyd, Iowa on New Year's Eve.
(without Sixx or Grohl) Hope '09 kicks for ya Nelson ! -Noot
I had a killer time
A couple of my pals worked for Dave Grohl at the Blackcat in DC. They said he was a down to earth, regular NoVa hillbilly. That looks like a blast, Happy New Year!
