Again i ask why 'fixie' bikes are on this otherwise great site? Because theyre 'chopped'? C'mon. Apart from mechanical simplicity in a visual sense, the idea of a bike with no brakes is only slightly less absurd than that of a motorcycle with no brakes. And the whole 'back-pedal' stopping technique is laughable - i've seen at least 4 of these fixie muppets rear end cars here in NYC in quick stop situations. But, hey, 'it LOOKS cool', haha..
partially seconded. although the above ass clown has no idea what he is talking about, i whole heartedly agree about coc not being the place for track bikes. i was a cycle courier on the road in san francisco for 6 years and pedaled every inch of that distance on quote unquote "fixed gear"(track racing bicycles). therefore, i feel i at least have a leg to stand on when it comes to this subject. all i'm saying is that track bikes are the most blown out trendiest hipster bandwagon shit out there, and chopper will quickly go the same way if we invite these art school attendees living on daddys coin in cities like san francisco, new york, austin, etc. into this culture. ten years ago the parts for track bikes were something you found in a dusty box under a stack of newspapers in the back of an old man, crusty bike repair "shop" that looked more like a hole in the wall. now, you cant find any vintage parts. all the daddys coin trust fund tight pants hipster rich kid faggots bought em all up to go on their production model tig welded bianchi pista pieces of shit without a scratch on em, just like the one in the picture i'm commenting on now. oh wait, just like whats happening to chopper thanks to media coverage aimed at trendifying and "safening" this fucking incredible movement known as chopper motorcyle building. our bikes were used every day for a purpose and they served that purpose well. they were fast, light, and easy to repair, due to the small amount of moving parts. if someone was riding a steel lugged italian or custom built frame, they were beating it to shit everyday to earn a living, not babying it and rubbing it down with the fuckin sham-wow. these kids in s.f. dont get their bikes above 15 m.p.h. ever, and they build them with SHIT parts such as the velocity rims that are pegged at the seams not braised.
im ranting, but theres plenty of fixie websites. this ones chopper. and hipsters should stay away. micro is not one of the offending parties i describe above, but this post will attract that breed like flies to shit.
micro is a patch bearing member of a motorcycle club, and I respect that deeply. i'm sure he has felt the influx of wussies into motorcylcing culture as we did with cycle courier style, and track bicycles. furthermore, my point here is not in any way an affront on micro, or his interests & lifestyle.
it sucks to have your culture fucked over by posers, i've been there. lets keep c.o.c. away from this off-topic scene, it'll serve us well.

post script** motoyan is a bad ass motherfucking bike messenger from a gnarly ass city to be a messenger in. i have ridden in tokyo and got into some extremely hairball situations riding "red light go" style with the japanese couriers. i have long held my tounge when his bicycle posts came up, mostly because he posts his work bike, beat to hell and modified extensively to suit his ON THE JOB RIDING STYLE. the difference between his posts and this one of an un scratched bike with strategically placed "cool" stickers and trendy, less functional parts is vast.
****and real bicycle messengers would usually avoid the "fuck taxis" sticker. we share the road with cabs every day, and it is a rookie maneuver to create enemies of cab divers. you'll see that cabbie again soon, regardless of how big your city is. and next time, you might not see him coming.
