The Pond

The San Fernando Drag Strip, one of LA's most popular, ran from 1955 to 1970. The track ran uphill, next to a drainage ditch in a fairly populated section of The Valley.

They we're not allowed to run open headers until after noon on Sundays due to the nearby churches.
It's rumored that races would often extend the races off the end of the track, into the neighboring hills and back to the start finish line.

Because it was the closest track to the Hollywood movie studios it can be seen in almost ever '50 hot rod B movie.

The San Fernando Drag Strip, nick-named The Pond, closed in 1970 under pressure from the residential neighborhood growing around the track.

Sweden

Mashed Kidneys MC in Skultuna, Sweden had there 30 year party this weekend.

First we rode to Strul MC, Enköping, then to Tramps MC in Västerås, an even older club.
This is real Swedish summer. Bikes, warm weather and red wooden houses with white corners.


They had booked some really good bands. First out were GoGetters.
Then Sator. They were really big in the 90's but are still a great band!

I want this one! Arboga-Sören of Tramps MC. Swedisch style chopper.
Hedlund, x-sidcar-MX engine built in Sweden in some kind of homebuilt frame. 1000cc.

bought this fucker out of red bluff for 10.5k. Was featured in HotRod back in '95. So many custom touches on this thing and runs like a top. Andrews gears, nice cam and hauls.

My family and I, lost our best friend last week..He was 11 years old...One of his favorite things to do was to run beside my dirtbike. A 120 pound bear...We also lost 'Clutch' our 15 year old yellow lab less then a year ago...Its been a rough dog year for us...

anyway,
