Rivera's on 7th Street

Yes, another delightful dining experience in our city of LBC. With half a million people populating the Long Beach area, Rivera's on 7th Street was another gem we found among the hundreds of Mexican food joints. This place was introduced to us recently by Dustin:
The place was a little change for us. It was nice, well lit, and if the ambiance was this good could this place really give us what we wanted? CantStayJose was already ribbing our waiter to see if Rivera's was going to be muy auténtico. It's not easy pleasing Jose with food from his home turf. It better be good:
We started with chips and salsa of course. The salsa was surprisingly good. Lots of garlic, which is how I like it. Chips were also freshly made but not too greasy:
The tortilla soup came out right away. The hombre was surprised, which leads me to believe that our dinner was going to be good:
I had two tacos. One fish taco, which was excellent. They didn't deep fry the fish! It was grilled! The other one was taco de adobada which is like al pastor - marinated pork. Both of the tacos were really good and came recommended by the waiter. I also had one chicken tamales on the side, which was so good I was floored. I rarely come across "gourmet" tamales and this one was gourmet:
CantStayJose comio enchilada de pollo, taco de pollo, con frijoles fritos y arroz. He had the chicken enchilada, hard shell chicken taco, beans and rice. His plate was scraped clean too:
Jose dug the tortilla soup so much he took some home for su sexi novia guera (his hot white girlfriend):
We recommend Rivera's! Check it out!
