Little Brandon's FXRS-SP

I been looking for an FXR for a while. I worked on tons of them while I was at Geoff Gates' shop, Harley Doctor, which was about 7 years ago. Majority of his clientele were FXR's in all forms. There were some shitty ones but also some really cool ones too. I had a Dyna, a couple of them, then got this one.
I found it on eBay. It was located Glendale, AZ. sometime in June of last year. First time I ever looked on there for a motorcycle actually. It only has a couple days left in the auction and I didn't know how it all worked, so I had a friend email the guy and he took my offer. The next day, I drove out there and picked it up.
All I did at first was put the fairing on and ride it. Just some slight cosmetic improvements but nothing really. It was a night and day difference between riding my new 2007 Dyna, my 2000 FXDX and then this FXR. In the corners, it handled much better than any Dyna I've been on. Rear wheel wobble just isn't there. Don't get me wrong, Dyna's are a good bike but...
Luckily it came with the Carlini Torque Arm that was made for FXR's, which is kinda hard to find these days.
I had ChopperDave modify the XR1200 shock bushings so I could run them on my bike, which makes the rear shocks 3/4" over stock. The front end is stock, but the FXRS-SP Lowrider Sport models came with 2" longer tubes than the standard FXR models.

...this morning at Illusion Cycle. He had a smoker for me! It was taking up too much space in his patio, so of course I wanted it to go to a good home.
But I could only have it on one condition, he said. I had to arm wrestle Rusty for it.
Check my game face. Check the booster under my elbow!
Rusty is 6'8", 280lbs with 20" guns. I'm half that but he's got nothing on me! and of course I won! Can't wait to get my smoker home!

Sam's FXR

...actually it's a '92 FXLR Low Rider Custom. What sets the FXLR apart from most other FXR's is 3 key elements: the stock 21" front wheel, solid 16" rear and it's slight rake which is what initially attracted Sam to this very bike. But after 13 years of ownership, it's turned into much more than that.

Being a 20 year employee of H-D of Westminster, CA and one of their main/senior techs, you can bet that Sam has done a bit more than your usual bolt-on affair. He's completely gone through his engine more than once and has rebalanced the stock flywheels with S&S rods, high comp pistons, a 580 cam and Branch heads."I don't know how many times it's been called a Dyna or Sportster."

This is the way this FXLR has looked from the first time I laid eyes on it 6 years ago and it's been more or less untouched for almost 10 years now.




I dig Sam; he's an old school hard ass that knows what he digs and stays with it. I can imagine that he'll be with this bike for decades to come. More FXR and Dyna's coming soon!

Schwartzkopf FXR

So if you've been following the FXR series of posts I've been doing, you may remember this bike in it's original form a little while back.







It was put together by Schwartzkopf Exclusive Customs then eventually brought into Top Shelf to have a few things tidy'd up and then repainted.
If you're a fan of FXR's, you may think of this bike being quite dreamy due to it's use of high end components. If I hit the lotto, I'd have something similar for sure.
The Supertrapp high pipes, inverted front end from Storz and lots of braking power.
And of course Ohlins shocks and the very favorable Chopperguys FXR frame.
Oh, fancy seat.

S&S 124" with TwinCam style engine case backed up with a TwinCam FLT transmission, which is the cool set up since it's got the engine oil pan underneath it (less weight on top).


So fresh and so clean-clean.
